Staying on Disney property has some advantages and disadvantages. Let me start off by saying that staying in a Disney resort is much more of an experience than any regular hotel will ever be. There is just something magical about the decor and the time and effort taken to maintain property to such a high standard. There is no contesting that Disney resorts offer some of the best amenities for kids (themed pools, décor, character experiences, playgrounds) and there are 17 different Disney resorts with a range of different themes and price ranges from $99 a night to $300+ per night. We highly recommend that families take 1-2 days of their vacation just to sit and enjoy the resort. This will give you, and your kids, time to recharge as a Disney vacation can be exhausting at times. Also, if you are traveling during an off-peak time you may find some really good deals on Disney resorts. During one of our trips we found a promo offer good for buy (4) nights at a Disney report and get (3) nights FREE. Check here to see what is running right now for specials.
Pros (+) to Staying on Disney property – Free transportation to and from the airport (Magical Express), free transportation to and from Disney Parks / Disney Downtown, no parking expenses, no need to rent a car, no need to drive (thus no chance of getting lost – or as I refer to it “directionally challenged”), great theming with lots for the kids to do, Magical Extended Hours and Dining Plans.
Cons (-) to Staying on Disney Property – Limited room space, more expensive than off-site options – especially for families larger than 4 people, limited food options, high food prices, waiting in line for buses and no way to get off Disney property.
